A driver can speed anywhere. All it takes is one driver who is driving too fast for the road or its conditions to cause a tragic Georgia car accident.

However, there are parts of Georgia where speeding is more common, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT)*.  Specifically, the DOT reports these issues:
  • The speed related fatal crash rate is more than double in rural counties than in the five Atlanta metropolitan counties.
  • The number of fatal speeding crashes increased everywhere in Georgia except for the five Atlanta metropolitan counties, including urban, suburban and rural areas from 2000 – 2006.
