Two children were killed in a Commerce Road Crash on Friday, June 3, 2011. The children have been identified as 10-year-old Evan Escoe, of Hull, and 10-year-old Samuel Hart, of Comer. The two boys were riding in the back seat of a car driven by Samuel's mother, Elisha Hart. Samuel's brother Carter was also in the car.
The group was headed to Sandy Creek Park for the afternoon when Ms. Hart is reported to have slowed down to allow the vehicle in front of her to make a turn. It is alleged that when Ms. Hart slowed down, a tractor trailer rear-ended her car.
Evan was reportedly killed instantly. Samuel was airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite where he passed away on Saturday, June 4. According to officials, Evan and Samuel suffered head traumas, and they were wearing seat belts at the time of this Georgia car accident.
Ms. Hart and 8-year-old Carter both suffered injuries that were not life threatening. The trucker was not injured. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Evan Escoe and Samuel Hart, and especially to Elisha and Carter Hart to whom we also wish a speedy recovery.
