On Monday December 6, 2010, a fatal Georgia car crash took the lives of two drivers in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The head on collision occurred on Highway 29 near Patterson Road in Lawrenceville around 5 a.m.
Police report that the two drivers killed in this crash were 22-year-old Dafney Perez and 68-year-old Samnang Chea. Both drivers were from Lawrenceville and neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. They had no passengers in their cars at the time of the crash and no one else was injured.
According to police, Ms. Perez was travelling northbound on Highway 29 in a Toyota Corolla, and Mr. Chea was travelling southbound on Highway 29 in a Toyota Cressida. Police and an eyewitness report that Ms. Perez was driving at a high rate of speed and was unable to stay in her lane. She crossed into oncoming traffic and hit Mr. Chea’s car head-on.
Police suspect that both speed and alcohol were factors in this fatal crash. Traffic was redirected for hours as police investigated this accident.
