A Georgia driver lost a ladder on I-285 causing a multi-vehicle accident that killed one person and injured two more. The accident included a jackknifed trailer that blocked all Northbound lanes at Washington Road.
Law enforcement officials are still looking for the driver and say that he is liable and faces criminal charges. The Georgia Department of Public Safety Comissoner, Col. Mark McDonough, was quoted as saying "Anytime that, because of your negligence, you cause the death of somebody, you can be held criminally liable. In this instance, the wrongful death of another is specifically tied to the accident. That's what is known as vehicular homicide".
Investigators will use clues from the ladder to try to identify and locate the missing driver, such as the bar code on the ladder, to try to find out where and when it was purchased.
