The Kellogg Company has issued a recall of approximately 282,000 cases of its popular Mini-Wheats cereal because of fears that the cereal could contain metal fragments as a result of a faulty manufacturing part.

The voluntary recall includes Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size Original and Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size cereal with the letters KB, AP or FK before or after the best-before date. Boxes of the cereal comprise most of the recall, but some are single-serve bowls.  Use by dates for the recalled products range from April 1, 2013 to September 21, 2013.

According to the FDA, consumers with affected product can use the "Contact Us" form at Kelloggs.com or call 1-800-962-1413 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.
