On Friday, July 22, 2011, a serious Marietta bicycle accident took place sending the bicyclist to the hospital with critical injuries.

The bicycle accident occurred overnight around 12:30 AM on Roswell Street at Aviation Street. Police indicated that the driver of a 2005 Lexus ES380 hit a bicyclist and continued to drive down Roswell Street.

Marietta Police Officer Justin Rutland said the male bicyclist was thrown off his bike and onto the hard ground, suffering critical injuries. He was taken to Kennestone Hospital for medical treatment.

Several hours later, both Marietta and Alpharetta police found the suspected car and the driver at a home in Milton, GA. They arrested a 67-year-old woman for this Marietta hit-and-run accident and placed her behind bars at the Cobb County Jail. She was arrested for DUI and felony hit and run charges and is being held on a $10,000 bond.

The hit-and-run driver has been identified at Judy Mae Petrovsky.

There were no further details about the bicyclist's medical condition or his identity.
