In 2009, 32% of all fatal crashes were caused by drunk driving.  Despite years of education and public awareness campaign, more than 10,000 people died and tens of thousands of lives were destroyed by drunk driving in a single year.

Each Atlanta car accident lawyer at our firm has seen the personal tragedies caused by drunk drivers.  We have helped the injured recover damages for their medical expenses, lost income and pain and suffering.  We have also helped survivors recover for medical costs, funeral costs, lost income and pain and suffering after they have suffered the loss of a loved one.

We are committed to the fight against Georgia drunk driving accidents.  As long as drunk driving crashes continue to occur in this state, we will zealously advocate for the rights of drunk driving victims.  However, we would like to see these preventable tragedies decrease in our state.

One way to reduce drunk driving accidents is by the use of new technology such as the Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety, which is currently under development.  This system would prevent a nonintrusive way to test a driver’s blood alcohol content and prevent a driver from driving drunk.  Currently, in vehicle testing of this new technology is scheduled for 2013.  It is being funded by the Automotive Coalition for Traffic Safety (ACTS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

We hope that this technology, or others like it, can help decrease the deadly problem of drunk driving in Georgia.  If you have been hurt, or if you have lost a loved one in a Georgia drunk driving crash, please contact an Atlanta car accident attorney at 770.518.1133 for more information.
