Two on-duty Forsyth County deputy sheriffs were involved in separate car accidents during the month of October 2011.

The first crash occurred on Peachtree Parkway on October 5. Lt. Jody Chapman's Chevy Tahoe and a Buick LeSabre driven by 86-year-old John Howley Buice were involved in the accident. Lt. Chapman was directing school traffic at Pinecrest Academy at the time of the crash. Mr. Buice was injured in the crash and taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell for treatment of his accident injuries.

The second crash occurred at the intersection of Keith Bridge Road and Freedom Parkway in Cumming on October 15. In that case, Deputy Kevin Pittman was responding to a call of an accident with injuries when his Dodge Charger hit the passenger side of a pickup truck exiting a supermarket parking lot. No injuries were reported in that crash.

The public is reminded to exercise extra caution around sheriffs' vehicles and other emergency vehicles, especially those with their emergency lights on indicating that they are responding to an emergency call. We extend our best wishes for a complete recovery to Mr. Buice and to anyone else who was hurt in these Forsyth County car accidents during October 2011.
