On Monday, September 20, 2010 a serious two car crash occurred in Perry, Georgia on Sandefur Road during the late morning.  Police indicated that 40-year-old David William Thompkins of Warner Robins was driving westbound on Sandefur Road when his pickup crossed the center line near 425 Sanefur Road.  When the pickup truck crossed the center line, it collided with an eastbound Toyota Camry driven by 64-year-old Edith Johnson of Perry.

The crash caused Mr. Thompkins to be partially ejected from his truck.  Both Mr. Thompkins and Ms. Johnson were extricated from their vehicles by Perry firefighters.  A passenger in the pickup truck, 34-year-old Tara Longbine of Kathleen, was not seriously injured in the crash.

However, both Mr. Thompkins and Ms. Johnson were taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment.  Mr. Thompkins was reported to be in stable condition the day following the crash.

Ms. Johnson died shortly before 3 a.m. on Tuesday September 21, 2010 in the surgical trauma intensive care unit, according to the Bibb County coroner.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Edith Johnson following this tragic Georgia car accident, and we wish Mr. Thompkins a speedy recovery.
