A three vehicle crash killed one person and injured two others in Evans, Georgia, on Saturday, November 20, 2010.  The accident occurred on Washington Road just east of Blanchard Road.  Police have, however, concluded that the often dangerous intersection was not a factor in this crash.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reports that, for an unknown reason, Mr. Daniel Morales was driving westbound in an eastbound lane on Washington Road.  Police have found Mr. Morales at fault for the accident because he was driving in the wrong lane.

The first part of the accident occurred when Mr. Morales’ car collided with a Lincoln Continental driven by 37 year old Paul Autry.    Mr. Autry was seriously hurt in this Georgia head on collision and was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment.  His passenger and wife, Phyllis Autry, was killed in the crash.

After Mr. Morales collided with Mr. Autry’s vehicle, he hit another car driven by Albert Young.  Mr. Young and his passenger were not injured in this crash.

Mr. Morales was listed in fair condition after the crash.  The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that charges are pending against him.

We extend our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Phyllis Autry and our best wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in this crash.
