On the afternoon of November 4th, a motorist was hit from behind when a delivery truck failed to brake in time. The collision occurred at approximately 5:15pm on McGinnis Ferry Road between Medlock Bridge Rd and Peachtree Industrial.
The brakes of the delivery truck were said by witnesses to have screeched violently for approximately forty yards before making impact with the rear bumper of the other party’s blue sedan. The driver of the blue sedan, who has not been identified, was said to have suffered back and neck injuries from the collision and was unable to exit the car until paramedics arrived, loading him on a back board into the ambulance. The considerable distance which the delivery truck careened as its brakes were being applied drew attention to its condition. It was soon discovered that the truck had been issued to the driver by the delivery company with its brake pads severely worn down to an unsafe degree. Though the circumstance points to negligence on the part of the company, its owners have yet to comment.
The driver of the sedan was taken to local Emory Hospital at Johns Creek for evaluation. He is said to be recovering well, though further treatments and rehabilitation may be required. We wish him a full and rapid recovery.
