Car Accident Takes the Life of a Child in Gwinnett County

On Saturday, September 17, 2011, a 14-month-old baby girl was sitting in her stroller and being wheeled across a parking lot on Lenora Church Road in Lenora Park. As the mother pushed her little girl across the parking lot, an SUV hit the child.
According to investigators on this fatal Gwinnett County car accident case, the2005 Chrysler Pacifica SUV, driven by Tekila Glass of Riverdale, did not appear to be speeding at the time of the crash and may have been in reverse. The mother allegedly pushed the baby out from between two parked cars and into the path of Ms. Glass's vehicle.
The child, who has been identified as Olivia Hellwig of Grayson, Georgia, was seriously injured and rushed to Egleston Hospital in Atlanta where she died later the same day from her accident injuries.
Local authorities are continuing to investigate what happened in this crash and have not yet determined if any criminal charges will be filed against any party involved in this tragic accident.
We extend our sincere condolences to the parents, relatives and friends of the little girl who lost her life in this Atlanta area car accident.
