During the overnight hours of Thursday, October 6, 2011, a scooter rider was hit by a motor vehicle outside of Capital View Manor Housing on Metropolitan Parkway and Dill Avenue in Atlanta. The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m.

Witnesses to the crash report hearing what sounded like an explosion. The scooter rider, who has not yet been identified to the media, was reportedly thrown from the scooter at the time of impact. The scooter, however, got stuck under the car and caught fire. According to witnesses, the driver of the car backed up, got the scooter out from under the car and then left the scene of this Southwest Atlanta crash.

The injured party was taken to Grady Hospital and reported to be in stable condition. Police are looking for the driver of the vehicle. The vehicle may have been a late model Trans Am because an emblem was found near the accident scene. However, police have not ruled out the possibility that another type of vehicle may have been involved. If you witnessed the crash or know anything about it, please contact the police.
