A third grade Sky View Elementary School teacher was hit by a car while she was bicycling to work on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Reports indicate that Carrie Kane was riding her bike on Austell Road in Southeast Cobb that morning when she was hit by a car that did not stop at the scene of the accident. One of Ms. Kane's colleagues found her on the road at about 6:30 a.m.

Ms. Kane was taken by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. She was released later that day but is reported to need follow-up appointments with both an orthopedist and a neurologist. She suffered cuts, bruises and memory loss following the collision.

The police are continuing to investigate this Cobb hit-and-run accident. They have recovered a passenger side black mirror that they have sent out to determine what type of vehicle it came from. Anyone with information about this Georgia bicycle crash is encouraged to call the Cobb hit-and-run unit at 770.499.3987.

Ms. Kane is a board member of Bike Cobb, a group that advocates bicycle safety in Cobb County. She attended her first meeting as a board member the night before her accident. We extend our best wishes for a full and quick recovery to Carrie Kane following this Cobb County bicycle car accident.
