No.  Just because you get hurt in an accident in the state of Georgia does not automatically entitle you to receive compensation for your injuries.  There are several things you need to keep in mind with regard to potenitially collecting damages for your injuries after an accident:

  • You have to prove that the other driver was negligent and that his or her negligence led to your injuries.
  • You have to identify the correct person to sue (this is not as clear cut as you might think, especially in wrecks involving tractor trailers).
  • You have to file an accident claim within the statute of limitations, which is generally two years in Georgia.
  • In addition, other factors such as pre-existing injuries have to be taken into account.

The bottom line is that if you've been injured in a car wreck, your best course of action would be to consult with an experienced accident attorney.
