Within a day or so after the insurance company has repaired your vehicle, or if the vehicle was considered totaled and the insurance company has made you an offer to compensate you for it, you'll typically need to return the rental car. If you decide to keep a rental car beyond that time frame, in most cases you'll end up incurring the extra costs yourself.
