The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently released a report about seatbelt use in the United States. The report, which is updated annually, reflects the study’s conclusions for calendar year 2009.
Those Less Likely to Wear a Seatbelt Include….
According to the study results, passengers in the back seat are less likely to wear seatbelts than drivers and front seat passengers. 16 -24 year olds are less likely to wear seatbelts than people in other age groups. African-Americans are less likely to wear seatbelts than people of other races, and males are less likely than females to wear seatbelts.
Why the Study is Significant
As
Fulton County car accident lawyers, we understand how important seatbelts are in saving lives. The odds of surviving a car crash without significant injury improve substantially when a seatbelt is worn at the time of the accident.
Identifying groups who are less likely to wear seatbelts may enable public awareness campaigns to target their messages and to help improve compliance with Georgia seatbelt laws.
If you have been hurt in a
Fulton County car crash, you may be entitled to damages whether or not you were wearing a seatbelt. Please contact a Fulton car accident lawyer at 770.518.1133 for more information about your rights.
